Priority upgrade for Caboolture-Bribie Island Road
Works are now underway to upgrade a key section of Caboolture-Bribie Island Road at Ningi, transforming it into a four-lane, dual carriageway from Old Toorbul Point Road to just east of Saint Road.
The $48.23 million upgrade—jointly funded by the Australian Government and the Crisafulli Government—aims to improve safety, connectivity, and traffic flow along one of the region’s busiest roads.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Brent Mickelberg said the project reflects the government’s strong focus on road safety and long-term planning.
“Caboolture-Bribie Island Road is an important part of the state road network and a key link between the centre of Caboolture and the communities of Ningi, Sandstone Point and Bribie Island,” Minister Mickelberg said.
“This priority upgrade is in line with our strategic vision to deliver a four-lane, two-way, median-divided road—one that meets current needs and supports future growth.”
The upgrade will include new traffic signals at the Volz Road and Browns Road intersection, pedestrian crossings, a U-turn facility for eastbound vehicles, upgraded bus stops, and a formal right-turn into Saint Road. Uncontrolled right-turn movements will be restricted to improve safety.
Minister Mickelberg added, “Every effort will be made to minimise disruptions during construction, but we appreciate the community’s patience as we deliver this vital project.”
Member for Pumicestone Ariana Doolan welcomed the works, calling them a long-awaited improvement for the local community.
“This is an essential upgrade for an increasingly busy section of road,” Ms Doolan said. “It will ease congestion and improve access and safety for our growing community.”
